Ulexite (Sodium-Calcium Pentaborate Octahydrate), B2O3 content is 30% min. Dissolves slowly in water and rapidly in acidic medium.

Insulation – Used in the production of insulation material in construction and automotive industries.  It created a fire proof effect in cellulosic material and heat resistant fabrics.  High sound absorption capacity, therefore classed an an “acoustic material”.

Glass/Ceramics – Reduces the fusing, formation and fluidizaiton temperatures of glass as flux.  Enable coatings to form at lower temperatures by increasing the wetting properties of the coating material.   Enables thermal expansion of the glaze to match the ceramic.  Enhance the appearance of the glaze by increasing refractive index and gloss.  Increase strength and scratch resistance of the coating.

Fertilizer – Due to its low solubility granular ulexite is preferred for fertilizers produced for sandy soils.

Metallurgy – Used int eh gold refining industry, as part of the slag formulation in order to dissolve metal oxides.
