Malic acid is an organic compound, that plays a key role in many biological processes and is commonly found in fruits.

It is the active ingredient in many sour or tart foods to enhance flavour profiles.  It is more acidic than either Ascorbic or Citric Acid.

In cosmetics & skincare it can act as a mild exfoliant in alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) products.

Wine-making,  important in malolactic fermentation, where it’s converted to lactic acid to reduce wine acidity.
