A non-ionic surfactant and gentle emulsifier, widely used in cosmetics and personal care formulations to solubilise essential and fragrance oils into water-based products.
It is created by the ethoxylation of sorbitan (from sugar alcohol) with oleic acid—a fatty acid found in vegetable sources.
