Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a non-ionic polyhydroxyl compound, it is synthesized by ethylene oxide anddiethylene glycol.
Different molecular weights have different solubility, surface tension, viscosity, freezing point, and melting points, so the difference in their applications is fully dependent on the molecular weight, which range from 100 to 8,000.
Applications
Adhesives & Intermediates chemical
In metal working industries as an additive in lubricant and coolant.
As a dispersant and emulsifier for textile industries.
In cosmetics for preparation of ointments and lotions.
